The Health Coordinator provides site support to Contractors and Owner teams on regulatory and project health compliance requirements including but not limited to COVID and mental health.

Support the company project with respect to health assurance activities.

Meet regulatory and site-specific health objectives/strategies and anticipate/forward planning of supporting work for health compliance process.

Interface with management, Contractor, internal/external stakeholders (e.g. Northern Health, Department of Kitimat) and work site based HSSE teams.

Promote effective communication and working relationships in health matters between the project sites, the various HSSE groups and Project leadership.

Build health specific competencies and capability at the project level.

Kitimat is a remote site located in British Columbia. Winter conditions can be moderate to extreme

with heavy precipitation in the area.

Normally a 14 day on and 7 days off work cycle, this role may also be required to work hours outside of the assigned cycle. There is flexibility in the schedule. The rotation and hours are driven by project schedule and needs.

Implementation of proven Health and wellness best practices on a mega construction project to reduce opportunity for non-compliance to regulatory requirements and ensure that the safety of project personnel is maintained.

This position requires interface with multiple internal and external stakeholders. This individual needs to be very flexible and adept at reacting to regular change and changing deadlines

  • Functional (program, technical support and coaching) reporting to the the company HSSE Director, this position is the focal for any site-specific Health Program development and implementation. This position will also be accountable for corporate Health Program development and implementation.
  • Prime Functions include:

- Supporting the company team with awareness of and maintaining compliance to the project's

health commitments.

- Accountability for the management of consistent implementation of Health program (COVID) and processes for the company.

- Establishing strong working relationships with main Contractor.

- Overseeing health activities (COVID and EAC commitments) and ensuring that project deliverables are proceeding according to plan.

- Providing technical input and subject matter expertise (SME) with respect to Health programs.

- Update and manage HRA

- Effectively plan, organize, communicate, and monitor progress on tasks and projects as they relate to health (COVID and others).

- Overseeing and providing input in contractor and subcontractor’s Health Risk Assessment (HRA), including application.

- Ensuring that the health-related records and documentation is maintained and developing processes for ensuring that contractors comply with project agreed record retention requirements.

- Developing the health audit processes aimed at monitoring compliance with project requirements through participation in regular audits and site visits. the company – Kitimat, British Columbia

- Providing an assurance role on the Health function – ensures that contractor teams have controls in place for effective management of health risks, ensuring they are understood and mitigations or controls are put in place in a timely fashion.

- Establishing effective working relationship with the Contractor and the company HSSE Personnel to align on key Health improvement areas.

  • University degree and / or technical diploma or Certificate in a Health-related field.
  • Mega Construction Project experience in the construction industry is mandatory for this position.
  • Minimum 7- 10 years health related experience with additional knowledge and experience in COVID mitigation strategies and mental wellness is essential.
  • Ability to work in a team environment (Finance, C&P, HSSE and Real Estate) with proven ability to work independently and make decisions that are timely and effective.
  • Very good organizational and time management skills are a necessary asset.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to influence without authority.
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills – requirement for presentation and report writing skills.
  • Self-motivated team player with ability and desire to take responsibility and drive workloads to effective resolution.
  • Able to communicate fluently in English, verbally as well as in writing.
  • Ability to have tough conversations with contractors to defend the company`s position.
